Cottage & House Rental – Short and Long Term Property Management and Maintenance

Southampton, Port Elgin and Area

History

Lion’s Head Lodge

The property was originally bought from “Colonel Hamilton” in 1960. It was then decided to move the Handicraft House out to the highway closer to Wiarton. It was used as a cottage until 1967, then it became a Tavern. The owners were very meticulous about looking after the grounds and the cleanliness of the Tavern. The landscaping was incredible, beautiful rock gardens, and lighting everywhere. The owners knew a man named Eddie Sargent, who was a member of parliament representing Grey Bruce and was able to have the road and corner officially named after the Clarke family. The Tavern sold again in 1986 and was going until approximately 2005. It has since been remodeled into a beautiful lodge with much of the original charm still intact.
